spot2tweet - An Automated Twitter Status Update Service

spot2tweet is a free service to link you and your spot satellite GPS messenger device to Twitter. Using spot2tweet, each time you send an OK check-in message from your spot device, a status update will also be posted to your Twitter account, with your location or other information you choose. spot2tweet is the first of several services we are working on to help you get the most out of adventuring with your spot locator.

With spot2tweet, you can:

  • Deliver regular status updates even when you are away from the Internet
  • Tweet your actual location, not just your LAT/LON. We will look it up for you!
  • Build a list of "geo-followers" who want to track your adventures
  • Build publicity for an upcoming adventure or trip
  • Allow your extended family or friends to easily follow your travels on Twitter
  • Keep statistics on how many people read your updates
  • Choose from a list of message templates so your twitter updates are appropriate to your adventure

To get started, you need to own a spot device, and you must have a Twitter account. Just register your device information and your twitter account with us and add our email address to your spot notification list in your spot account. It is that simple. We will never sell your information to anyone. When you register, have your Spot account login information handy as you will need to provide us with the 'name' you assigned to your spot device (one name is assigned to each unique device/ESN number within your account page on the spot web site).
